We are a small, fast-moving media company looking for a highly motivated individual who can think on their feet. Includes the ability to analyze and formulate a solution to any situation that may occur. Networking (human and computer) skills a plus. See below for a list of technical requirements.

Job responsibilities include maintenance of in-house intranet databases using ASP.Net and C# languages for the frontend and MS SQL Server for the database backend. Reporting (automated and on-demand) for these databases is done with a combination of Crystal Reports XI and custom-written SQL stored procedures.

Regular updates of external websites (bostonguide.com, showofthemonth.com, artnewengland.com). This includes both content and functionality updates as required and troubleshooting of any configuration issues that may occur with these websites.

Routine maintenance of several internal Windows 2000 servers (database, file, mail, ftp and web). Includes regular swap outs of the backup system and user account maintenance as needed.

Maintenance of several custom-written C# applications used to:

1. process the message queue for sending/receiving customer comments emails

2. automatically download and process daily website log files

3. send out email newsletters

Hardware responsibilities also include maintenance of PCs, Macs, printers and routers (wired and wireless).

Responsibilities:

• Maintenance/troubleshooting of in-house Windows 2000 servers (database, file, mail, ftp and web).
• Backup hard drive swap outs every Monday.

• User account creation in the file and mail servers.

• Bi-weekly content updates of bostonguide.com

• Bi-monthly content updates of artnewengland.com

• Regular content updates of showofthemonth.com
• Creation of travel itinerary PDFs, reference of said PDF in the travel database and uploading of PDF to the SOMC travel website.

• Creation/fix/update automated reports in SQL server.

• Creation/fix/update crystal reports used in the SOMC, advertising and editorial databases.

• Create new offer pages as needed on the SOMC website; add the appropriate join code information into the SOMC database for tracking and reporting purposes.

• Create and send out email newsletters. Upload files as need to website for use in the newsletters. Update tracking information used for each individual newsletter.
• Creation of banner ads for the websites.

• General hardware/software troubleshooting of commercial products.

• Networking maintenance/troubleshooting.

• Website administration (domains, etc).

• Software and hardware research and purchasing.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or similar, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with database development including:
– Knowledge of db queries and stored procedure coding
– Excellent database design skills
– Experience with database tuning and performance optimization
• Quick research and analytical skills, quick learner – must be able to research, review and thoroughly understand existing infrastructures.
• Strong tuning and performance optimization skills.

Required Software Languages:

C#, ASP.Net, MS Transact-SQL, JavaScript, HTML

Software Packages Used:

MS Visual Studio, SQL Server, Crystal Reports, MS FrontPage, Photoshop, QuarkXPress

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with web design, SEO and SEM

• Experience with web analytics software and data
