Clatsop County invites applications for a full time Senior Network Administrator to provide network administration for the Countys Local Area Network and wide area links including installation of hardware, software, and security; to oversee the daily operation and administration of networked systems; to recommend and implement network policies, procedures and standards; to assist in planning and implementing the networking systems and products; and maintain network documentation.
This is a top or advanced journey level class in the Network Administrator series. Positions at this level are distinguished from other classes within the series by the level of responsibility assumed and the complexity of duties assigned. Employees perform the most difficult and responsible types of duties assigned to classes within this series. Employees at this level are required to be fully trained in all procedures related to the assigned area of responsibility.
MANDATORY QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Four years of education in computer related field and/or equivalent experience. Demonstrated knowledge, proficiency and competency in hardware and software of Microsoft Server 2003/2008, SUSE Linux Enterprise v10/11, PC operating systems Windows XP thru Windows 7; IIS v6.0/7.0; ASP/PHP/Perl scripting; Microsoft SQL 2000, 2005, 2008; Cisco IOS; Active Directory environment managed by group policy. Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and to meet competing deadlines; flexibility to prioritize tasks according to departmental and County needs; ability to create and maintain system documentation; ability to maintain confidentiality; ability to obtain a CJIS security clearance; ability to thoroughly plan software migration or installation, with 3-5 years network administration experience (3 years as PC support in network environment).
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with Cable/Fiber diagnostics; Physical Access Systems/ HID; Novell Platespin Orchestrate and SLES/Xen virtualization platform; GroupWise 8; Telephone and VoIP systems. Possess Cisco CCNA certification.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The ability to lift 35-60 pounds (i.e., PCs, UPS, printers) daily. The ability to assemble/disassemble network cabling and personal computers and peripherals. Travel between outlying County buildings. Position requires occasional overtime or schedule adjustments in order to perform computer functions when computer systems are not in use.
