The Network Security Engineer will install, document, administer and upgrade software and hardware products that enforce IT security at headquarters and remote facilities as enumerated in the section below. This individual will assist in the design and implementation of a robust, layered network and services security structure for the enterprise wired, wireless and VPN networks. This person works with server platform and applications teams to implement and integrate security technologies and solutions as needed. Will research new and emerging security technologies and write and enforce security policies, standards and operating practices across the enterprise.
The qualified candidate will have the following education and skills a Bachelors Degree in a technology-related major, CISSP certification, and CCSP CertificationA preferred, and 4+ years hands on experience with:
Anti-virus protection software – CA eTrust or equivalent; SPAM filtering software – Postini or equivalent; URL filtering software – IronPort or equivalent; Windows Patch Management – SCCM or equivalent; Network IDS/IPS – Cisco IDS/IPS or equivalent; Network Admission Control – Cisco Clean Access or equivalent; Event Correlation – Cisco MARS or equivalent; Network Firewall – Cisco PIX, ASA or equivalent; * VPN Technology _ Cisco SSL VPN and Site-to-Site VPN or equivalent.
In addition to knowledge and experience with the listed technologies, a strong background in physical and logical networking layered security implementation is required. Must be able to effectively troubleshoot connectivity and packet forwarding issues using packet capture tools and other analysis methods. Skills and experience related to network security incident management and containment are also preferred. In the absence of formal CISSP and/or CCSP certification, applicant must demonstrate substantial experience and background similar to those required for formal certification.
Other Skill/Business Knowledge required:
PC Skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio) including good documentation skills, use of scripting languages such as PERL to facilitate analysis of large amounts of data and/or to drive automation and ‘lights-out’ operations activities. Applicant should excel in a team environment, and must be a self-starter when it comes to learning new skills or staying current.
