-Configuration and problem monitoring and resolution (50%): Monitor the Enterprise Network from the NOC using installed network management tools. Access network equipment remotely to identify and resolve issues. Respond to phone requests for services or troubles. Act as a primary escalation point for network and system issues. Utilize the trouble tracking system to open, monitor, and resolve tickets on issues or services. Install and support the fiber infrastructure and cable television (CATV). Set up user accounts, permissions, and passwords. Respond to network alarms, taking appropriate action to classify, prioritize, and resolve network and system issues. Work closely with other departments/organizations and collaborate with other IT staff.
-Installation and repair of network components (30%): Diagnose network issues in coordination with customers and other university IT departments. Troubleshoot and repair network problems and verify completion. Install network components as part of projects and expansion. Repair or replace failed network equipment, fiber, or connectivity.
-Documenting, tracking, and reporting enterprise network trouble (10%): Respond to customer requests for service in a helpful, professional manner. Initiate tickets to track problems and service requests.
-Maintaining and documenting infrastructure records and reports (5%): Complete document moves, adds, or changes. Provide system documentation to appropriate team for updating. Identify, label, and report on installed infrastructure. Create network and system drawings to document the network and store with revision information in designated repository. Update network and system drawings as changes are coordinated. Utilize network management systems to create monthly and weekly reports.
-Respond to trouble reports and resolve issues (5%): Respond to trouble reports and work with customers to resolve issues. Verify completion of trouble resolution with customers. Provide on-call support per the rotating schedule. Close trouble ticket, documenting resolution.
-Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent and one to three years networking experience required.
Preferred Qualifications: Graduation from a technical school program and two to four years networking experience preferred.
