SunSetter Products, LP, America’s largest manufacturer and marketer of retractable home awnings, currently has an opening for an experienced Network Administrator.

JOB SUMMARY:

As a key member of SunSetter Products IT Department, this position is responsible for all aspects of network administration including servers, desktop systems, and communications hardware/software. This position reports to the IT Manager and requires extensive work using a computer. Responsibilities may require evening and weekend work in response to needs of the systems being supported.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Install, configure, and maintain personal computers, file servers, ethernet networks, network cabling, printers, and related equipment

• Perform and/or oversee software and application installation, and upgrades

• Maintain site licenses for department/organization

• Plan and implement network security, including building firewalls, file permissions, backup and disaster recovery plans, file system integrity, and adding and deleting users

• Manage user accounts, permissions, email, anti-virus and anti-spam

• Establish and perform maintenance programs following company and vendor standards

• Ensure timely user notification of maintenance requirements and effects on system availability

• Instruct new system users on operating systems, relational databases, and other applications; assist users in maximizing use of networks and computing systems

• Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the network

• Troubleshoot networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties

• Investigate user problems, identify their source, determine possible solutions, test and implement solutions

• Identify utilization patterns and their effect on operation/system availability and performance expectations

• Anticipate communication and networking problems and implement preventive measures

• Investigate, recommend and install enhancements and operating procedures that optimize network availability

• Document network problems and resolutions for future reference

• Assist with technology planning through ongoing research

• Assist the IT department with other projects and various tasks

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or similar.

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years considerable and current experience as an Administrator on medium sized network of servers, desktop systems and communications devices using current technologies.

Skills:

• Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Windows based servers, and desktop products
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, MS Exchange Server

• Demonstrated knowledge of Raid hardware configurations

• Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft IIS and SSL certification

• Demonstrated knowledge of setting up remote access for users
• Demonstrated ability to administer a network including firewalls

• Demonstrated ability to support networked printers and photocopiers

• Demonstrated working knowledge of current communications devices and protocols, server and desktop technologies. Experience with Citrix a plus.

• Knowledge of Daniel J. Bernstein’s Qmail and Linux OS a plus

• Ability to manage multiple projects, activities and tasks simultaneously

• Strong analytical abilities and professional office experience needed

• Strong inter-personal skills; ability to effectively communicate with other employees

• Detailed and organized work habits; ability to perform repetitive tasks on time and maintain logs
